Mao Bian paper (毛邊紙, Chinese: Máo biān zhǐ)

One of three main types of Chinese calligraphy paper; the others are 宣紙 (Chinese: Xuān zhǐ) and 棉紙 (Chinese: Mián zhǐ). Niether Máo biān nor Mián paper are typically handmade (unlike Xuān paper), and usually used only for practice. Máo biān paper often comes with printed grids for beginners. Both types are widely sold outside China. Máo biān and Mián papers are of inferior quality to Xuān paper.
