Horsewhip (策, さく, saku)

One of the eight basic strokes of kaisho (楷書, かいしょ, standard script), as defined by the theory of calligraphy known as eijihappō (永字八法, えいじはっぽう, “eight rules of the character 永 (eternity). “Saku” is often referred to as koga (虎牙, こが, i.e. “tiger fang”). “Saku” is meant to be written with one brisk movement. It is a horizontal stroke, gently slanted upwards, and thinning gradually toward its end.
