Shodō (書道, しょどう, lit. “the way of writing”)

Sho (書, “to write”) + dō (道, “a path”) in Japanese means “calligraphy”. Calligraphy then is understood as a “path of life through writing”, one’s lifetime devoted to mastering the secrets of Far Eastern calligraphy, its various techniques, but most importantly the spiritual aspect of it. Please click here to read more about what Far Eastern calligraphy is, and how it should be understood.
