Orijo

Orijō (折帖, おりじょう, lit. “folding book”)

A traditional Japanese folding book, with writing paper glued onto a harder surface and folded down into evenly sized sections. Orijō folds down to a small sized book, and it’s easy to read. It may also be spread wide open for the purpose of admiring the entire work. In the folded form, pages of orijō are to be flipped by a smooth movement of the index finger slid under the next folded page. This method helps to avoid smudging or damaging the calligraphy.
