Irogami

Irogami (色紙, いろがみ)

Literally, “coloured paper”. It has the following varieties:

*For studying shakyō (写経, しゃきょう), i.e. copying Buddhist sutras.

*Paper used for origami (折り紙, おりがみ), the Japanese art of folding paper.

*For general use (colour printing, etc.)

Irogami is not to be confused with shikishi (色紙, しきし, i.e. “a rectangle shaped calligraphy paper (white, or with a design) glued on a cardboard”).
